Cielo (2003-2018)
Recently closed after an impressive 15 years, Cielo was one of the city’s staple dance clubs known for a mix of hip-hop and EDM. Co-owner and resident DJ Nicolas Matar is credited for much of the club’s success, along with longstanding residencies over the years by NYC household names like Louie Vega and Francois K. Matar went on to open Brooklyn’s Output nightclub, which sadly suffered the same fate as this beloved standby.
