C. Z. Guest
Truman Capote certainly lived up to his infamous quote, “Style is what you are,” by surrounding himself with the most fashionable women of his generation. Lucy Douglas "C. Z." Guest was one of the most well-known socialites of the time, gracing the cover of TIME Magazine in 1962. That same year, she married Winston Frederick Churchill, only the relative of Sir Winston Churchill (no big deal or anything). She was well-loved by artists and was captured by by Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, and Slim Aarons. She was considered the embodiment of Americana luxury, unfussy and clean-cut, which earned her a spot in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1959.
