Marella Agnelli
Capote regarded Marella Agnelli as his “European swan numero uno.” Born in Florence, to a Neopolitan noble family, Marella lived an aristocratic lifestyle. She entered the world of yachts, private jets, and more indulgent social gatherings upon her marriage to the richest man in Italy, Giovanni Agnelli, heir to the Fiat automobile corporation. Talk about "La Dolce Vita." Marella became friends with the Kennedys and even closer to Capote, making his betrayal of her confidences even more hurtful. After Giovanni’s death, she focused on redesigning homes and gardens, moving to Morocco where she created her own plush oasis. She was also known for her extensive art collection, featuring pieces by Picasso, Renoir and Matisse, and continued to lead a glamorous life up until her death in 2019.
