On her mom-shaming experience:
When we lack community or support and don’t feel confident in ourselves or our own parenting, any of us can become mom-shamers. Everyone at some point has misjudged someone else based on their own experiences and motherhood is an area where so many of us feel strongly in our beliefs. I was judged for breastfeeding my son until he was 3 years of age. This was before the age of Instagram. Now we see people nursing freely and in support of their followers. I am thankful that my mother encouraged me to nurse for as long I could. I seek to create safe spaces for mothers so they can freely express themselves. There is so much judgement about the way we birth, whether or not we breastfeed, the way we raise our children… We need to realize that we are all doing our best and rather than point fingers and judge, stand alongside others and support them through their journeys - motherhood is a wonderful time to build a community.
On how she recharges:
I’m a self-care queen! For me it’s all about checking in on a moment-to-moment basis to see what I need to maintain optimal well-being. Meditation is key for me. love to take baths and soak, to get massages and I love taking long walks alone- near the water. But for me, self-care is also about creating healthy boundaries and saying “no” and protecting my energy.
